Electrical - Wire and Cable

Applications
Overview

Plasticizers for Electrical - Wire and Cable Applications:
Jayflex plasticizers are phthalate esters, specialty adipates and trimellitates used to soften rigid polyvinyl chloride(PVC).  Plasticized PVC is the single largest volume electrical insulating material in use today.  It has good electrical properties, excellent abrasion and moisture resistance, and may be formulated to meet specific physical requirements.

Polyalphaolefins for Electrical - Wire & Cable Applications:
With well-defined molecular weights and structures, PAO can be used to make filling compounds with various additives that remain integral (no separation) at extreme temperatures and are compatible with many types of polymers used in cable fabrication.

Polymers for Electrical - Wire & Cable Applications:
ExxonMobil Chemical sells raw materials and compounds designed to meet a variety of applications in the wire and cable industry.
  • The raw materials used mainly for insulation are polyolefin-based products, such as polyethylene and polypropylene.
  • Plastomers: Exact Plastomers are a new family of polyolefins that "bridge the gap" between elastomers and conventional polyolefin plastics like polyethylene.
  • Our Vistalon EP(D)M and Butyl polymers grades are also used in a variety of electrical applications.
  • Exxelor polyolefinic modifier.
