Synthetic ester based fluids are typically more biodegradable than mineral oils. Biodegradable fluids minimize the environmental impact through normal use or in the case of accidental lubricant loss. In addition, products with improved performance can be formulated with the proper basestock selection.

Esterex Esters
The Umweltbundesamt (UBA) has confirmed that Esterex A51meets biodegradable criteria under RAL-UZ-79 (Blue Angel standard for Rapidly Degradable Hydraulic Fluids).
