ExxonMobil Chemical’s Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant Earns NPRA Distinguished Safety Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (March 26, 2007) -- Today the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant received the Distinguished Safety Award (DSA), the highest award given by the Association, for the fifth year in a row from the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA). Since the NPRA safety awards program began in 1982, no other company has received the award for five consecutive years.

The Distinguished Safety Award is part of the NPRA’s comprehensive safety program that promotes accident prevention in the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries and publicly recognizes excellence in safety by industry leaders. Recipients of the DSA must pass a comprehensive review of individual safety performance programs. To be considered for the award, a location must achieve both an employee and contractor total recordable incidence rate of 0.8 or less and have had no employee cases involving days away from work for the applicable evaluation period.

“Safety is a fundamental value above all else,” said ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant Manager, Rich Mohring. “This award recognizes those facilities that have operated to the highest standard of excellence.”

The Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant will be recognized at the annual NPRA National Safety Conference on May 3, 2007, in The Woodlands, Texas. The ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery will also receive the Distinguished Safety Award Honorable Mention at this same event.

The Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant became an ExxonMobil facility in 1995 and has a 1.6 billion pound capacity of high density polyethylene and 900 million pounds of polypropylene for customer applications such as diapers, carpet backing, fuel tanks, detergent bottles and milk jugs. The plant is an equal opportunity employer, staffed by approximately 460 ExxonMobil full-time plant and associated technology employees and 130 contract employees.

The Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant currently has operated a 22-month period without a single recordable injury.
